Sport News

PE lessons form an integral part of the curriculum for all pupils with a variety of physical activities to develop coordination and skills. In recognition of the school's commitment to sport and healthy lifestyles, we have been awarded a gold Active Mark award for the past 3 years.

We employ specialist sports coaches to teach PE to children from Year 3 upwards. In the Spring term, all children  take part in 'Charlie Gym' with our specialist coach from the Hartford School of Gymnastics.  We also have strong links with the Sandiway Tennis Club and Alvanley Cricket Club who have run a number of in-school and after-school sessions for the children. Inter-school competitions are another regular feature,  linked with Frodsham and Villages School Partnership. Indeed, the summer term sees all schools in the partnership join together to take part in Cross Country races in Delamere Forest and in a District Sports Athletics event for both Key stage 1 and 2.

Extra-curricular clubs
We like to offer a wide range of after-school and in-school clubs - for all age ranges. Current clubs and activities include Gym, Tennis, Dodgeball, Tag-Rugby,  Dance, Football, orienteering, Little Superstars and Netball - all run by qualified coaches. The Tag-Rugby team has achieved an exceptional run of success - Cheshire Champions, third in the North West and among the top ten schools in the Country. We're so proud of them!

Many of our children and their parents/carers pursue active lifestyles outside school and their endeavours and achievements are celebrated in our special achievement assembly; recently, for example, we have celebrated some amazing achievements in dressage, show jumping, swimming, gymnastics, dance, triathlons, football and rugby.

Sports Day
A key fixture in the school calendar is the summer sports day which includes a variety of traditional races to test both speed and dexterity. Participation in the events is as enthusiastic as the parental support from the sidelines - but parental involvement is not confined to the sidelines as we include a number of races for adults - so don't forget your trainers! Both individual and group performance are celebrated with children organised into colour groups to compete for trophies. For spectators, the (often) sunny afternoon is complemented with tea and scones, with the PTFA kindly on-hand to help with the refreshments.
