Our Beautiful Grounds
Our new outdoor learning room has transformed our school. I am writing this article as I am sitting with 18 year 6 children who are completing their SAT’s reading paper. It is a very calm atmosphere with light streaming in through the windows and all I can hear is the birds singing outside and the scratching of pens on paper! This is a far cry from previous years when we have been in the school hall hearing the muffled voices of the midday assistants and the cook trying hard not to clatter her pans!!
We are blessed with our beautiful school grounds and have worked hard to utilise the areas we have. Year 6 are completing their tests in a serene setting, at the top of a hill, nestled in the trees and overlooking the school. It is another world and an ideal place to feel calm and peaceful. This new room will not just be used for tests but to deliver our bespoke curriculum. Whilst mixed age classes have many benefits and contribute to our inclusive and family feel, we can also offer individual year group teaching, meaning that the children are taught in small classes of up to 15 children, during the year. We really are unique!
In addition to this new room, we have also secured some lottery funding to add a gazebo and stopwatch to our school grounds. This means that we can teach outside in all weathers and can make use of our wonderful setting. The local community are invited to come and use our field for sports or nature hunts and can use our facilities whatever the weather. Don’t forget we have a wildlife area with a pond in our school grounds too. The local cubs and guides often enjoy an evening using our grounds, and Norley 0-5’s love using our school field for fun with the little ones.
From the photographs you can see what happy children we have here at Norley CE Primary School. Follow us on twitter @NorleyCofE or check our website www.norleyce.cheshire.sch.uk to see what we get up to. You are also welcome to come and visit us.
