Norley in the Top 1% of Schools in the Country!
Norley- In the top 1% Primary Schools- Again!!
Once again, we are in the top 1% of primary schools in the country.
We were delighted to receive a letter from the Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP congratulating us on the high standard of achievement in the key stage 2 Reading assessments last year and informing us that we are in the top 1% of schools in the country. 100% of our children reached the expected standard for their age and 44% exceeded the expected standard. We are thrilled that our continued drive towards high academic standards has been recognised.
Here at Norley CE Primary School we place an emphasis on reading, with the knowledge that this is the foundation to success in every subject. Our children demonstrate a love for reading and this in turn has increased their use of vocabulary. Reading is promoted by involving parents in meetings about how we teach reading, inviting friends from the community and family in to hear children read, we have inviting reading areas in the classrooms and we regularly update books from the mobile library van. Phonics is taught daily and reading books are matched to suit the individual children, guided reading sessions enable children to develop their comprehension and interest in texts and we use high quality texts in our English teaching. Most importantly the staff here are a dedicated team who want the best for our children. This was also recognised by Ofsted in October 2019 and the reason the children’s behaviour and attitudes were graded as outstanding. They have outstanding role models in all the staff.
