Garden Party 175 years Celebration
Here at Norley Church of England Primary School we are celebrating 175 years of teaching, learning and nurturing. A highlight of our celebrations included a Garden Party on Saturday 28th September 2019. The whole community were invited to join us and despite the weather we had a fantastic afternoon together.
Our Garden Party included the opening of our new learning space, ‘The Lookout’, a tranquil room nestled in the trees, overlooking our school and grounds. This was named by one of our past pupils who returned to officially open it. The choir sang beautifully in the rain to mark the occasion.
This being a community event, included stalls, promotions and demonstrations from local businesses and groups along with stalls run by parents, and some organised and run by the children. Our year 6 children have been working with two of our dads to produce a fabulous film about our school and its history. This, and additional photos, can be found on our website. We certainly have some aspiring directors, presenters, researchers, interviewers and camera crew! The film radiates how proud the children are of their school and their understanding that they are a part of its history too.
Our Garden Party included a Macmillan coffee afternoon. This also provided somewhere dry for people to shelter whilst raising nearly £300 for the Macmillan Nurses, a charity close to our hearts.
Finally, we have published a book “Pearls of Wisdom’. In addition to the school being established 175 years ago, we have been in this new building for 30 years. 30 years being a pearl anniversary, we collected quotes from all our friends and members of the wider school community to produce a unique book which also features a short history of the school. It is available to buy from the school office for £4.
We would like to take the opportunity to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone involved. There are so many people to thank that I would be concerned about leaving anyone out if I started to name individuals. It just shows you what a great reputation we have and what a friendly, family orientated school we have nurtured here. If you couldn’t make it on Saturday or would like to visit again please don’t hesitate to call in we would love to spend more time with you and show you around.
